Camp Overflow, Otis, MA, August 2003

Taking a little break after Heather had Me and Adam rearrange every picnic table in the park. Damn, look at that hair line go.

Here is my campsite. Later in the week, this would be the scene of the infamous cooler burglary.

Here is Mike, Jen and Heather trying to up the screen house. Behind Mike you can see my blue and white cooler. This is where I kept my beer until it was stolen by some punk kids.

Adam makes a fashion statement while whittling a stick. Seriously, what's up with the hat?

Here is a view of the Otis Reservoir from the docks. Out near the buoy on the left is where I caught my fish. More on that later.

Here is another picture of the lake with a couple of sail boats in the background.

And here is one more with a motor boat heading out to do some fishing.

Speaking of fishing, that is what Adam and I were here to do. Here he is fishing off the dock.

And here is the catch of the day. It is a pickeral (~14" long). It put up a pretty good fight, too. Adam gets a big assist on this one as he tackled the fish on the dock when it broke my line. Just as Adam took this picture, it wiggled its way free from the hook and fell back into the water.

Mike said that he could out fish Adam and I with two plastic cups. For those of you keeping score at home, the final was Adam and Scott - 1, Mike - 0.

Doesn't this picture remind you of that famous Big Foot sighting? Some natives stopped by to ask if the "slow" kid was trying to catch crayfish.

The weather finally cooled down enough by the second night that we decided to light a campfire. It didn't want to catch at first, so Adam resorted to an old Boy Scout trick - lighter fluid.

Just a touch more for good measure.

This is our little chipmunk buddy who showed up every morning around breakfast time to eat pop-tarts with us.

He loved pop-tarts.

Shortly after breakfast he would get a little hyperactive and start running around the woods behind our camp sites.

The next night's fire needed a little persuasion as well.

This picture didn't really come out well. What I was trying to capture was the green flames caused by the burning charcoal bag. You'll have to trust me that it was pretty cool.
