Scott and Kayla go to see WWE Smackdown, Feb 28, 2009

Our niece Kayla is a big WWE fan. Well, she is a big John Cena fan, and I always tease her that he stinks. This past February, WWE Smackdown came to Burlington, VT for a non-televised house show. Kayla got her parents to buy her tickets on the condition that they didn't have to take her, so she asked me if I would go with her.

Now I have been a closet wrestling fan, on-and-off (okay, mostly on) since the days of Hulkamania. Once, somewhere around 1988 or so, the WWF came to our high school. I remember the whole neighborhood gang went to the show and we were a little disappointed. The biggest names may have been Koko B. Ware and his parrot Frankie. My brother did get Leaping Lanny Poffo's autograph, however.

This time around, it was a much better experience. Kayla and I had a lot of fun. There were really only one or two guys that you wouldn't see wrestle on tv. It was a packed house, and the crowd was really into the show, which made it all the more fun. I would definitely go back to see them if they come back to town.
